Medication Certification for Allied Health

All Counties Manukau District Health (CM Health) staff involved in the prescribing, administration and supply of medicines to patients have personal and professional accountability and responsibility to the patient in ensuring professional standards are met and maintained.

CM Health has a directive of achieving Zero Patient Harm. To help achieve this all registered health care professionals, both clinical and non-clinical are expected to successfully complete the Medication Safety Package.

Full credentialing for the Medication Safety Certification Process involves successfully completing all 3 stages of the process.

The 3 stages include:

  • This e-learning package
  • The Online Drug Calculation test
  • Up to 3 practical medication administration assessments including oral medications, simple IV medications and complex infusions.

Completing ALL 3 stages of the practical assessment may not be required in all areas of clinical practice. If your clinical area does not require you to administer IV medication or complex infusions, you will not require assessment in these areas. Your Clinical Educator will be able to advise you further on this.
