This is a teaching tool for nurses who are orientating to Neonatal Care. Its purpose is to help you understand fluid volumes ensuring optimal growth and calorie intake which is important with infants cared for in the neonatal unit. The teaching tool is based on Neonatal Care guidelines and breastfeeding guidelines.

•  You will learn in how to calculate the daily volumes for an infant
•  You will learn how to grade up in volumes using the daily volumes table.
•  You will learn how to change a feed that is given every 2hrs. to every 3 hrs.
•  You will learn how to titrate oral feeds increasing and IV fluids decreasing
•  You will learn how to utilise the use of the breast feeding code against decreasing IV fluids
