Sensory Modulation Step 1 (Child Youth and Family)

Intended audience: Required training for all members of the Child Youth and Family portfolio (all disciplines)

Duration: 2 hours

Exclusions: Adult Mental Health Services & CADS have their own trainings for this topic.

Course outline:

Sensory modulation involves supporting and guiding service users to gain skills in self-management and changing emotional states by using sensory input and equipment.  It enables service users to learn self-soothing techniques to change their current emotional and behavioural responses.

Upon completing of this training staff will be able to support clients to identify sensory preferences (new and existing) and to apply sensory modulation strategies.
