This course is intended for medical registrars and general physicians involved in the care of acute stroke patients. The aim is to familiarize yourself with the indications for stroke thrombolysis and the treatment pathway. It is highly recommended that all medical registrars complete this course at the start of a WDHB medical run. General physicians should consider repeating this course annually. Stroke thrombolysis at WDHB is managed by medical teams after hours when the acute stroke team is not available. This course will provide you with the knowledge and tools to assess patients for thrombolysis, obtain informed consent, correctly administer the treatment and monitor and manage potential complications.
