This course will cover best practice procedure in collecting blood sample from a Midline and Central Venous Line (CVL). 

Key Learning Outcomes:

Following the completion of this course the RN/RM will be able to:

• Identify risks and benefits of Midline/CVL blood sampling
• Describe the importance of proper hand hygiene and ANTT® while collecting Midline/CVL blood sample
• Gain knowledge in the selection and use of safety / closed collection systems for Midline/CVL blood sampling
• Discuss how and when push-pull method is performed
• Outline importance of correct fill volume, order of draw, labelling and documentation
  
• Undertake a practical competency assessment to demonstrate: 

1. Blood Sampling using Direct Draw
2. Blood Sampling using Syringe Draw
3. Blood Culture
