Pressure Injury Prevention - the SSKIN Model (National Course)

This course developed by wound care specialists throughout New Zealand, familiarises staff with the SSKIN pressure injury assessment framework. There are a number of scenarios to work through, and then a series of short quizzes to complete. You need to achieve a 100% grade to pass each quiz.

Course Learning Objectives

  • Describe the SSKIN pressure injury assessment framework
  • Construct an action plan/care plan based on the SSKIN framework
  • Provide individualised education to patients on their risk and when to escalate concern i.e. pain.
  • Be able to gather sufficient data (history), from a variety of sources to enable accurate identification of the level of risk and implement an individualised intervention plan
  • Engage and partner with individuals, and their whanau, to encourage their full involvement and participation in their pressure injury prevention and care
