Safe transfusion requires trained and competent health care providers who deliver care across the public and private sector 

• to consolidate knowledge and understanding of good transfusion practices
• to understand the consequences of any failures in the transfusion chain
• to describe and the difference between blood components and blood products, and the rationale for their use
• to recognise transfusion-related adverse events and manage them appropriately
• to apply your learning and knowledge in a clinical situation using international best practice
