Kia ora! The overall aim of this course is to enable the health care worker to recognise how to reduce the potential of extravasation, and manage an event if it occurs in order to reduce patient harm.
On completion you will be able to:
- Describe the difference between extravasation and infiltration
- Identify the nine factors that contribute to extravasation
- Be able to grade an extravasation
- Undertake immediate and ongoing management of an extravasation event
