BFHI accreditation is an MoH requirement for all facilities providing maternity services in New Zealand. This educational package supports all new and existing staff to meet their education requirements for BFHI. This orientation package ensures orientation to the facility, orientation to our breastfeeding policy and helps to ensure consistent knowledge and advice is shared to support mothers to feed their babies.

Targeted Learners:

• All new staff employed within the maternity system.
  
• Existing staff to ensure clinical standards are being met.
  

Learning Objectives:

• Become familiar with infant feeding practices and tools available to support this within our maternity service.  
  
• Have an understanding of our breastfeeding policy ensuring consistent messages are provided to all service users.  
  
• Ensure that their  clinical practice is safe, current, consistent.
