This course, which was previously known as Code Black, is for all Te Toka Tumai Auckland workers at all locations. Our Code Purple response is how we respond when there is a critical security incident (such as an abduction, firearm, an offensive weapon (non-firearm), or a chemical, biological, radioactive or explosive device or substance) requiring emergency services support.

This course will educate you so that you know what to do during such an event.

Before starting this course you should have completed the mandatory Security for Safety awareness module.

This eCourse will enable staff to be able to utilise effective communication strategies and remain safe when faced with challenging situations. This will include developing an understanding of the cycle of escalation and the role that communication plays in the de-escalation of a distressed person. The relationship between least restrictive interventions and the decision making process will be explored.

This course is worth 1 hour of Professional Development time

Everyone needs to know how to keep themselves, others and our property and premises safe and secure. This eModule will raise your security awareness and knowledge to do exactly that.

Why do this course?

At Auckland DHB, it is our priority to make sure we are all safe and secure as we go about our work. This course will build your knowledge and awareness of security risks and what to do to ensure your own personal safety and that of others.

This course will assess your understanding of the Working Safely in Healthcare - ADHB's H&S Handbook. All new workers should complete this assessment within 7 days of starting work as part of the staff health and safety induction.

The H&S Handbook covers all the health and safety requirements of this organisation.
