Who for | Midwives, LMCs, Consultant obstetricians and O&G registrars. |
What |
Provides guidance around how to detect and prevent SGA |
Time | 30 minutes |
Welcome to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at Lakes.
You may not have much experience in O&G, and you may need to call for help frequently. We do not have 24 hour-7 day a week registrar cover, so you may find yourself talking directly to a consultant at 3 am. This is O.K. Come morning we will be happy that you (and the patients) are safe. This course is not designed to be a comprehensive overview of everything you need to know in our specialty; instead it is an overview of common presentations you may see on your first night shift. These topics include:
- Initial management of severe pre-eclampsia
- Initial management of post-partum haemorrhage
You will be allocated a SMO supervisor on your first day, and you can ask them for clarification if you have unanswered questions. You can find a description of your daily duties and our general expectations in the O&G survival guide.
Good Luck!
