Te Whatu Ora - Whanganui Central Venous Lines

This course will cover the care and maintenance of CVL's

Key Learning Outcomes:

Following the completion of this course the RN/RM will be able to:

  • Outline key factors to consider when undertaking an assessment for the selection of a CVL
  • Describe how to care and manage different types of CVL’s
  • Identify potential risks / complications related to different CVLs’ and nursing interventions to avoid or correct these
  • Discuss the application of Infection control measures when caring for patients with a CVL
  • Undertake a practical competency assessment to demonstrate:
    • CVL dressing and injection port change technique
    • Administration of a medication via CVL
    • The technique of taking blood sample from a CVL

Te Whatu Ora - Whanganui - IV Cannulation

The main learning objective of this course is to provide competent skills and knowledge required to undertake cannulation as an extended practice in a safe manner to ensure patient care.

Completion of this E-learning module does not certify you to perform IV cannulation.

This course is worth 1 hour of continuing development time.

Whanganui DHB - Infusion Pumps - Acromed 2020

This course is for all nurses, midwives and anaesthetic technicians and provides an introduction or refresher to the Admedus Volumed, Syramed and TCI infusion pumps. 

Each module includes a quiz which requires a 100% pass.  You will be given three attempts at the quiz. Content the course facilitator if you require more attempts.
