Creating Positive Environments through the 5 Ways of Wellbeing is an initiative to improve workplace wellbeing.  If you are interested in learning some tips and tools to improve your own and your colleagues wellbeing, then this is a course for you.

WDHB CourseDuration

Four week course (a 2-hour workshop per week) + 30 minutes of daily home practice between each workshop.

Participants
This course is for all Waitemata DHB staff who wish to be able to focus their attention, invest in their wellbeing at work, reduce stress levels, and increase resilience.

About this course

Mindfulness-based Resilience at Work (MBR@W) is a highly interactive and experiential course with a supporting workbook and “take home” meditations. MBR@W has been offered at Counties Manukau Health for some time and was piloted at Waitemata DHB in 2015.

Topics covered in the course include: mindfulness meditation practices, stress management, mindful communication, and “in work” mindfulness practices. Note that a key element of this programme is learning how to meditate. Participants will also learn to:

  • Develop techniques to focus attention and be present - learn to be more present, focus attention and increase ability to respond more effectively to what’s happening at work and at home
  • Increase resilience and improve ability to handle stress - learn how to manage stressful situations better and become more resilient
  • Skills to reduce burn out
  • Increase their ability to be patient-centred - learn how to listen and engage more effectively and empathetically with patients/colleagues.

Important: This course has a limited number of spaces. You must have attended the MBR@W Level 1 course to attend this one.

Participants
This course is for Waitemata DHB staff who have completed the Mindfulness Based Resilience at Work Level 1 programme and wish to deepen their understanding of the topic.

On this course we will be:

  • Building on the universal theme of kindness and compassion, working with practical ways to maintain and deepen compassion towards ourselves and others, using Mindfulness.
  • Exploring and engaging with, Mindfulness practices that assist us to develop and maintain a compassionate response to those we connect with daily.
  • Looking at ways to stay open to patients’ or other’s that we work with, without being overwhelmed ourselves, or burning out
  • We will be exploring how best to take care of ourselves as we meet the distress of those we work with.

WDHB CourseParticipants: All WDHB staff are able to take advantage of the financial health check information and resources.

About this course

This information and resources has been collated in partnership with Sorted.org and our WDHB banking partner BNZ. It looks at a variety of events you experience through out life and how you can navigate your finances. The objectives are to:

  • Direct you to a range of resources and tools to support your financial situation
  • Make you aware of any financial Staff Perks you may be entitled to while working at WDHB
  • Make you aware of any educational events that are being offered to staff

WDHB CourseEmployees Assistance Programmes (EAP) provide employer funded counselling services to employees experiencing problems which may affect their work performance, health or safety.

This may include stress, burnout, grief/loss, drug and alcohol misuse, depression, anxiety, family and relationship issues.

All counselling issues and contents will be confidential between the counsellor and the employee.

WDHB will pay for the cost of three sessions
