About: This course focuses on the first 10 minutes in managing the seriously ill child. the e-learning covers a large component of theory and the face to face course is hands on with some assessment on the practical skills taught during the day(ntubation skills not taught on this course)

What you can expect :

  • Applying practical skills of Resuscitation that support management of Adult and Pediatric collapse, AED, manual Defibrillation and Airway adjuncts.
  • Participating in scenarios for the management of collapse and medical emergencies within a safe learning environment. 

The overall aim of this course is to  provide you with a basic understanding of the Shared goals of care process and introduce the tool-Serious illness conversation guide (SICG) . This will support you when having discussions that involve what the patient and Whānau want in their treatment. The SICG is a national directive and is one of the tools that as health professionals we can use to reduce and dismantle health inequities and role model best practice.
