The outcome of completing this course is that you will understand how to set yourself up in the Cortex phone app to receive and respond to emergency alert notifications.
You will also be given an overview of how Cortex works as an emergency system and the importance of shift roles.

About this course 

This course is for all Hawke’s Bay DHB staff. Every year, patients fall and these falls can result in serious consequences for both them and their families/whanau. The course objectives are to:

  • Remind you of the importance of protecting our patients from falling
  • Revise the factors that can contribute to a patients individual falls risk
  • Revise the tools available to minimise a patients falls risk


Please note: The intent of this module is to refresh existing knowledge, and support your high standard of practice.

 

In this Ministry of Health course for health practitioners, including GPs, Nurses, Midwives, Oral Health Professionals, Mental Health professionals and Pharmacists, you’ll get to see and experience the benefits of using the revised ABC pathway with each of your patients or clients.

Welcome to the Delirium Management package - An early identification & intervention e-learning course.

This course is suitable for all health workers who are involved in patient care across secondary, primary and residential care facilities.

Delirium could happen to your mother, your brother or you!

On completion of this course you will have the knowledge and skills to early identify those patients that are potentially at risk of developing delirium.
You will be able to competently assess patients using the Confusion assessment method (CAM).
You will be able to put simple interventions in place that can minimise and reverse the course of delirium. These interventions will assist re-orientation of patients in partnership with the patient, whanau and family.
You will be able to effectively communicate about patients with delirium across the care continuum.

This course is for all Hawke’s Bay DHB staff. It looks at what is required to make health easy to understand and the role of the health system to achieve this.  There are two modules in this course

  • Module 1: Improving Health Literacy
  • Module 2: Communicating Effectively to Improve Understanding


Please note:  If you are working in Primary Health, you need to complete the Health literacy module under the Primary Care section instead.  

This course is required to be completed by all Nurses.
