Prerequisites: Completion of Clinical Cardiology Modular Course or equivalent qualification, an endorsement by RN Charge Nurse Manager/Team Leader, and Pre-competency assessment by CNE-Cardiology and ACCN for Cardiology Procedures
Duration: 10 equivalent shifts in Cardiology Procedures (CTCA) - as per CTCA Competency Sign-off

About this course:
This certification program equips cardiology nurses with the knowledge and skills to manage Computed Tomography Coronary Angiography (CTCA) procedures. The course covers CTCA protocols, patient preparation, medication management, procedural monitoring, and post-scan care. Through interactive modules, case-based assessments, and clinical scenarios, participants gain competency in delivering safe, high-quality care during CTCA procedures.

About this course:
This introductory course equips cardiology nurses with the baseline knowledge and skills to manage computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA) procedures. The course covers CTCA protocols, patient preparation, medication management, procedural monitoring, and post-scan care. Through experiential learning and actual case-based assessments, participants gain in-depth knowledge of delivering safe, high-quality care during CTCA procedures as CTCA Assist RN.
This section is for Cardiology Registered Nurses accomplishing the Cardiology Procedures Clinical Competencies.
The tests cover principles and WDHB policies and procedures governing Cardiology Procedures including:
- Exercise Tolerance Testing (ETT)
- Transoesophageal Echocardiogram (TOE)
- Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram (DSE)
- Computed Tomography Coronary Angiography (CTCA)
ETT Competency Test for Cardiac Physiologists.
This training program equips cardiology nurses with the essential overview, knowledge, and hands-on skills to competently and safely perform as a second RN in CT Coronary Angiography. Through online modules, facilitated sessions, and supervised practice, participants will learn to support patient safety, follow procedural protocols, and work effectively alongside the primary RN. Upon completion, nurses will be prepared to assist confidently in CT Coronary Angiography procedures.
