ECG & Rhythms Course

  Intended audience: ALL clinical staff in charge of patients requiring ECG and rhythm assessment and monitoring. 

Prerequisites: Completion of the Cardiology: Recording an ECG Workshop

Duration: Equivalent to 8 Hrs. of professional development training (self-paced learning)

 About this course:

Kia ora! This course aims to provide a basic understanding of the interpretation and management of cardiac rhythms to clinical staff in charge of cardiac patients requiring rhythms/ECG assessments and monitoring.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the basic concepts of cardiac rhythm.
  • Identify the indications for cardiac monitoring (based on Cardiac Monitoring - Telemetry Criteria).
  • Perform a systematic way of rhythms/ECG interpretation.
  • Recommend cardiac nursing-focused interventions and care plans for patients with rhythm abnormalities.
Assessments of this course:
  • Assessments (e.g. quizzes) are incorporated within the topics presented in the course.
This course expects that you will:
  • Complete all the topics covered and pass all assessments within each topic.
