Four week course (a 2-hour workshop per week) + 30 minutes of daily home practice between each workshop.
Participants
This course is for all Waitemata DHB staff who wish to be able to focus their attention, invest in their wellbeing at work, reduce stress levels, and increase resilience.
About this course
Mindfulness-based Resilience at Work (MBR@W) is a highly interactive and experiential course with a supporting workbook and “take home” meditations. MBR@W has been offered at Counties Manukau Health for some time and was piloted at Waitemata DHB in 2015.
Topics covered in the course include: mindfulness meditation practices, stress management, mindful communication, and “in work” mindfulness practices. Note that a key element of this programme is learning how to meditate. Participants will also learn to:
- Develop techniques to focus attention and be present - learn to be more present, focus attention and increase ability to respond more effectively to what’s happening at work and at home
- Increase resilience and improve ability to handle stress - learn how to manage stressful situations better and become more resilient
- Skills to reduce burn out
- Increase their ability to be patient-centred - learn how to listen and engage more effectively and empathetically with patients/colleagues.
