Kia ora, welcome to the Phlebotomy Theory Course for Te Toka Tumai Auckland District Health Board. This course is for all staff at Auckland DHB who perform phlebotomy as part of their clinical role.

Independence in performing phlebotomy at Te Toka Tumai Auckland requires sequential completion of three courses:

• Venepuncture theory (worth 30 minutes of Professional Development time)
• Phlebotomy theory (worth 1 hour of Professional Development time)
• Phlebotomy skill validation (worth 30 minutes of Professional Development time)

This course outlines the theoretical knowledge and techniques necessary for attaining competency in phelbotomy.
