This course introduces key resources and guidance to support best practice care for patients with suspected or confirmed Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), including Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE). VTE affects approximately one in 1,000 people each year, with many cases linked to identifiable risk factors such as trauma, immobility, cancer, surgery, or pregnancy.
Throughout this course, you’ll build your understanding of the assessment, care, and management of patients with or at risk of developing VTE within your clinical setting. You’ll explore current best-practice resources available on Hippo and reflect on how these can be applied in your day-to-day practice. You’ll also be encouraged to discuss VTE prevention management with your preceptor, nurse educator, or manager, helping you connect evidence-based guidance with the realities of patient care in your area. By the end of the course, you should feel more confident in recognising VTE risk factors, accessing relevant clinical resources, and contributing to safe, effective patient care.
