Kia ora! The overall aim of this course is to provide an update on Maori Perspectives on breastfeeding. This course contains a video titled 'How do non-Maori partner wahine Maori to navigate a system that wasn't designed for them?'  

This one hour course is part of the Breastfeeding Annual Update 2022

On completion you will be able to:

  • Revisit the history of western maternity system in Aotearoa

  • Consider how Mātauranga Māori can decolonise this reality for wahine Māori

  • Share in the learning of a team that work with kaupapa Māori health innovation in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

  • Become an ally for equity

Who is this for: The Breastfeeding Healthy Initiative (BFHI) accreditation requires registered midwife and nurse employees of Women's Health and NICU to complete this course as a compulsory component of the 21 hours of education in your first six months of employment.

Time: Approximately 1 hour to complete.
