The course is designed to provide an assessed introduction to the Thrombelastograph (TEG).

Evidence of knowledge recall is required annually to a minimum standard of 90%.

The target audience includes all TEG users within ADHB (mainly staff nurses and anaesthetic technicians).

For the purposes of assessment, recall of the following is required: 

  • Use of the TEG analyser
  • Key TEG components
  • Collection requirements and time frame for testing
  • Importance of correct analyser/sample preparation
  • Result interpretation
  • Basic troubleshooting
  • Maintenance
