This assessment is required of all Radiation Therapy staff involved in general electron treatments.

All qualified Radiation Therapy staff need to be able to treat various sites using electrons.  
This practical assessment covers treatment processes unique to general electron treatment set-ups.  

This skill-based competency assessment (audit) will be completed after you lead at least 3 procedures successfully and the electron treatment objectives are signed off as achieved by a treatment senior or team leader. 
  • Uploading your completed audit form constitutes a legal statement that you have demonstrated your ability satisfactorily.
  • In due course, the course tutor will confirm this and award you a PASS (10/10).
  • You must ensure that you have added the missing details and saved these before uploading the form.

 

Elekta Treatment units are new clinical equipment installed in the radiation therapy department at ADHB in 2018. 

This MOODLE contains training material to prepare and introduce radiation therapy staff and students to clinical use of this equipment.

This course introduces the initial response actions to be taken in the event of an incident that results in emergency.

It provides the opportunity to consider the various emergency situations that could be faced in the healthcare environment.

This workshop is a facilitated conversation in unearthing why it is that Māori more than any other ethnicity in Aotearoa experience health inequity. We examine a relationship centred care model as a way forward to ensure health equity for under-served populations including Māori.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop participants will:

  •     Have examined health inequity and its causes, bias including racism, the colonisation of Aotearoa, a way forward
  •     Define and describe culturally competent and culturally intelligent practice, an antidote for institutional racism
  •     Be challenged about the importance of proficient pronunciation of Māori words and names

After recapping the groundwork started in Engaging 1, participants explore notions of identity important to Māori. This includes the importance of the correct use of names, the meanings of names and the impact of doing this well – or badly.

Within this workshop is a 90min block focused on building the capability of participants to pronounce Māori words and names proficiently using the latest techniques.

Throughout the workshop, participants are encouraged to fully interact with one another in accordance with the relationship-centred care model and openly discuss cross-cultural communication dynamics.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop participants will:

  • Have examined cultural identity including rituals of encounter, the importance of names in relationship-centred care
  • Learn to pronounce Māori words and names proficiently (90min)
  • Explore Te Reo and Tikanga within a health context

  • Identify the resources available to you to support the safe use of Entonox

  • Articulate the legal requirements and responsibilities of administering this standing order

This course guides learners through application of the BUILD feedback model through interactive video scenarios. Learners are shown different scenarios where feedback might be given covering rudeness, bullying, performance management and safety.
