This education is for staff who have no clinical contact or limited contact with breastfeeding whānau. ie Level One awareness staff are - theatre staff, pain team nurses, hearing screeners, maternal mental health staff, social workers, reception staff, ward clerks, health care assistants, hospital support workers, cleaners and physiotherapists. Midwives and Nurses who work closely with breastfeeding whānau have their own course.

 We provide this compulsory education so you are aware of your role in supporting the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative. It will take you approximately 1/2 hr and you will receive a certificate on completion .

On completion you will;

  • Know what the WHO CODE is and how to uphold it 

  • Have awareness about the 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and why breastfeeding is important

  • Know what your scope of practice is around breastfeeding whānau and to refer to nurses and midwives if whānau need help with breastfeeding or are requesting formula

  • There are short quizzes at the end of each section 

  • This must be completed on employment and then once every 3 years

Course Aim: To deliver a training document about regulations, work practices and responsibilities within a Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) Approved Transitional and Containment Facility.

Audience: Lab staff working in Sections with imported biological material.
Assessment: Participants are required to be familiar with the training document contents and complete the assessment with a minimum 85% passmark.

About: The overall aim of this page is to record completion of the practical competency assessment for Bladder Scanning. On completion you will be able to scan a patient's bladder. Practical competency assessment is through observation and conversation with educator or clinical coach or other qualified assessor.

This course provides the essential knowledge to deliver the breast treatment technique  in accordance with ADHB RT best practice. 

 
Accurate application of the technique will contribute to better treatment outcomes and reduced side effects for patients receiving radiation therapy on these treatment units.  All qualified RTs and students need to understand the fundamentals of this technique including isocentre location, isomoves, field borders, cover and positioning using the breast board equipment.   
 
 

 

This course is designed to raise awareness about breastfeeding and the policies that support it. It is appropriate for anyone who may be in contact with a breastfeeding mother.

The Breastfeeding Essentials programme covers all aspects of the 10 steps to successful breastfeeding as described by WHO and UNICEF.
